Equipment

  • Kitchen Scale (optional)

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs 200 grams
  • 1 cup whole milk 227 grams
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 4 grams
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter 57 grams, divided (½ stick)
  • 1 loaf brioche bread about 8 slices

Garnishes (optional)

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon together.
4 large eggs, 1 cup whole milk, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter. Make sure the bottom of the pan is fully coated with melted butter.
    4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Dip both sides of each piece of bread into the egg mixture and place it into the buttered skillet.
    1 loaf brioche bread
  • Allow the toast to cook for 1-2 minutes, then check to see if the bottom side is golden brown. If it is, flip it over and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Repeat with the remaining pieces of bread, adding another tablespoon of butter between each batch.
  • Serve the French toast immediately with your desired toppings.
Fresh berries, Whipped cream, Bananas, Maple syrup

Notes

  • If you're making this recipe in the fall, add a little bit more cinnamon and a dash of pumpkin pie spice to the mix!
  • Follow the measurements specifically when whipping up the egg mixture. Too much egg will make the french toast have an unpleasant scrambled egg smell, and too much milk will ruin the consistency and create soggy bread.
  • While you certainly want the pan to be hot, it also can't be too hot! You don't want to burn the outside of the bread before it has a chance to cook all the way through.
  • Nutritional information does not include optional ingredients.
Storage: Store brioche French toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
