Notes

  • Use your favorite apples! The apples are the star of the show, so you want to use apples your family loves.
  • Use your favorite homemade or store-bought chocolate syrup, or try white chocolate syrup!
  • You can use homemade or store-bought caramel sauce, or you can even melt caramels in the microwave until they reach drizzling consistency.
  • Try using melted crunchy peanut butter for a bit of added crunch!
  • Use your favorite chocolate or baking chips, such as dark, semisweet, milk, white chocolate, cinnamon, or butterscotch!
  • Other fun toppings include sprinkles, raisins, dried cranberries, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, toffee pieces, or chopped candies.
  • To keep cut apples from going brown for even longer, try:
    • Soaking the apples in salty water (add ⅛ teaspoon of salt per cup), then rinsing and draining.
    • Brushing the cut apple slices with lemon juice before topping.
    • Quickly dipping the apples in a bowl of water mixed with a spoonful of honey before topping.
