Ingredients

  • 3 citrus fruits lemon, orange, or blood orange
  • About 2 cups vodka depending on your container size

Instructions

  • Wash off the fruits very well then peel the top layer off each of them without getting too much of the pith (the bitter white part of the fruit).
    3 citrus fruits
  • Place the peels in a jar and cover completely with vodka.
    About 2 cups vodka
  • Store at room temperature for 1 month, then strain out the peels.

Notes

  • This recipe makes 3 (6-ounce) containers.
  • When getting the peel from the fruit, try not to get any of the pith. This will give you the best-tasting extracts without any bitterness.
  • Make sure the vodka covers the peel when you add it to the jar.
Storage: Store homemade citrus extract in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
