Notes

Important Note: This is a craft recipe and is not intended for consumption.
*I have only made this recipe with all-purpose flour. Other types of flours may lead to different results in texture and consistency.
**I highly recommend using this ingredient to create the perfect texture and preserve the dough. Lemon juice and white vinegar are possible substitutes.
***Vegetable oil or canola oil are the best options for making playdough, because they are neutral (no smell), affordable, and don't leave a greasy residue. I don't recommend using olive oil.
Tips:
  • If the playdough is exposed to air, it will start to dry out quickly. So store immediately after use.
  • If the playdough starts to get dry, you can knead in a small amount of oil to add moisture. Sadly it can't be saved once it hardens.
  • When storing this playdough, use a durable Ziplock bag or Tupperware that's truly airtight.
  • For an even more vibrant color, or just to experiment with colors, you can use food dye! Squirt in a few drops when you're initially pouring all of the ingredients into the pot.
Storage: Store homemade playdough in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 months.
