  • 8x8 Baking Pan (optional)
  • 9x13 Baking Pan (optional)

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter 42 grams
  • 10 ounces miniature marshmallows (OR 40 large marshmallows) 283 grams
  • 6 cups Fruity Pebbles cereal 168 grams

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, stirring continuously.
    3 tablespoons unsalted butter
    melted butter in a saucepan.
  • Once the butter is melted, pour in the marshmallows and continue stirring until they have completely melted with the butter. Remove the pan from heat.
10 ounces miniature marshmallows (OR 40 large marshmallows)
melted marshmallows and butter in a saucepan.
  • Quickly stir in the Fruity Pebbles and stir until they are evenly coated with the melted marshmallow and butter.
    6 cups Fruity Pebbles cereal
stirred fruity pebbles and marshmallow mixture in a saucepan.
  • Line an 8x8-inch or 9x13-inch baking pan with wax paper, or coat with butter. Use a rubber spatula to press the mixture into the pan. If it sticks to the spatula, lightly coat it with cooking spray, or butter.
  • Allow the treats to cool, and the marshmallows to set, for about 30 minutes. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • You can use mini or regular-sized marshmallows in this recipe.
  • Use rainbow marshmallows for even more color!
  • Use an 8x8 baking pan for thicker bars or a 9x13 baking pan for thinner bars.
  • If you are not a fan of Fruity Pebbles, try Cocoa Pebbles for a chocolate version! Or, use your favorite cereal!
  • I like to add about 1 cup of extra marshmallows to make them extra gooey.
  • Be careful to not overcook the marshmallows or the treats will be hard. Take them off of the heat once they are starting to be gooey.
  • The trick to making these treats is to stir quickly before the marshmallows start to set.
  • I like to add extra mini marshmallows into the mixture once it cools a little so I get bursts of marshmallow flavor in each bar, plus a unique texture.
  • Lightly grease your hands with nonstick spray before pressing the treats to keep them from sticking to your hands, or use a piece of greased parchment or wax paper to smooth the treats.
Storage: Store Fruity Pebbles treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 6 weeks.
