Caramel apple nachos are hands-down one of my favorite easy fall treats! Crisp apple slices get drizzled with caramel, chocolate, and peanut butter, then finished with a sprinkle of chocolate chips for a sweet-and-salty combo that’s totally irresistible. They taste like a caramel apple, but with none of the sticky mess or hard work. Whether you’re putting together a fun after-school snack, creating a Halloween apple nachos platter, or setting up an apple nacho bar for a party, this recipe is quick, customizable, and always a hit.

Loaded Apple Nachos

What I love about these loaded apple nachos is how simple and stress-free they are. With just 5 ingredients and about 15 minutes, you can have a dessert (or snack) that looks impressive but takes almost no effort. It’s one of those recipes where kids can jump in too–mine love helping drizzle the sauces. And unlike traditional caramel apples, you don’t have to worry about biting into something too sticky or messy. This is a shareable, snackable twist that’s perfect for holidays, parties, or cozy family nights at home.

Layer the Apples for a Big Crowd

If you’re serving caramel apple nachos to a group, don’t pile everything into one big layer. Instead, arrange the apples in two or three “stacks,” drizzling toppings in between. This simple trick ensures that every slice gets coated with caramel, chocolate, and peanut butter, and no one gets stuck with plain apples at the bottom. It’s an easy way to make your apple nacho bar feel restaurant-worthy without any extra work.

    green and red apple slices
  • Arrange the apples on a large serving platter, then drizzle the chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, and melted peanut butter on top.
¼ cup chocolate syrup, ¼ cup caramel sauce, ¼ cup creamy peanut butter sauce
apple slices drizzled with caramel and chocolate

¼ cup mini semisweet or milk chocolate chips, Cream cheese fruit dip
apple nachos on a serving platter, covered in caramel and chocolate sauce, and mini chocolate chips

Notes

*Use your favorite apples! The apples are the star of the show, so you want to use apples your family loves. I like to do a 50-50 mix of red and green apples. Granny Smith is my favorite green apple, and Gala is my favorite red.
**For a slightly less sweet version, you can simply microwave some peanut butter until softened. I like using one with just peanuts and salt as the ingredients to help contrast all the sweetness.
Tips:
  • To quickly slice the apples, use an apple corer/slicer. I like the ones that slice the apple into 12 pieces rather than 8, since they’re a more manageable nacho size.
  • Get creative with toppings! Other toppings I like include sweetened shredded coconut, colorful sprinkles, mini M&M’s, mini marshmallows, and chopped peanuts!
  • For extra fall flavor, sprinkle cinnamon or cinnamon-sugar over top just before serving.
  • Nutritional information does not include optional ingredients.
Storage: Store apple nachos in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

How to Make Apple Nachos Step-by-Step

Prep the Apples: Core and cut each of 4 apples into thin slices. Place the slices in a large bowl. Pour very cold water over the apple slices until covered. The cold water helps prevent the apples from oxidizing/browning as quickly.

Drain the Apples: Let the apples soak for 10 minutes, then drain the water and rinse the apples well before draining them again to get as much water off as you can. We want the apples pretty dry so that the toppings stick.

Top the Apples: Arrange the apple slices on a large serving platter, then drizzle ¼ cup of chocolate syrup, ¼ cup of caramel sauce, and ¼ cup of creamy peanut butter sauce on top. Add as much or as little of each sauce as you like.

Add Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle ¼ cup of mini semisweet or milk chocolate chips on top and serve immediately with cream cheese fruit dip if desired.

How to Store

Although I have found that these loaded apple nachos taste (and look!) best on the day they’re made, you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. Beyond that, the apples will begin to brown and oxidize.

If you’d like to store your apples for longer, try:

  • Soaking the apples in salty water (add ⅛ teaspoon of salt per cup), then rinsing and draining.
  • Brushing the cut apple slices with lemon juice before topping.
  • Quickly dipping the apples in a bowl of water mixed with a spoonful of honey before topping.
