These spooky Halloween white chocolate buckeyes turn the traditional chocolate-covered peanut butter balls into adorable candy mummies. I draped these buckeye candies in white chocolate and added candy eyes to make them a little goofy and spooky. They’re so fun to make for Halloween, and my kids love to get involved in the process. Total mom win!
Buckeyes are one of my favorite classic candies. They’re super simple to make and so rich and delicious! I decided to try making white chocolate buckeyes for Halloween so they would look like spooky little mummies. These Halloween buckeyes are a bit sweeter than their chocolate counterparts, but they are so delicious and totally adorable! Plus, they’re super easy to make with just 6 ingredients.
What’s in This White Chocolate Buckeyes Recipe?
- Peanut Butter: I’m using a classic creamy peanut butter in this recipe. I don’t recommend all-natural peanut butter as it tends to be a little softer and makes dipping the buckeyes more challenging.
- Butter: Unsalted butter makes these buckeyes rich and creamy. Make sure your butter is fully softened so it incorporates smoothly into the peanut butter.
- Vanilla Extract: Helps enhance the sweetness and peanut flavor in the buckeyes.
- Powdered Sugar: Sweetens the buckeyes and gives them structure. Make sure to sift it so you don’t end up with lumps!
- White Melting Chocolate: I highly recommend using white melting chocolate as opposed to regular white chocolate– it melts smoothly and doesn’t require tempering!
- Candy Eyes: Add a bit of spookiness to these candies.

How to Store
Store leftover Halloween white chocolate buckeyes in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. To freeze, spread out the buckeye candies on a baking sheet and freeze until solid, about 1 hour. Transfer to an airtight container or Ziplock bag and keep frozen for up to 2 months. Let thaw at room temperature before enjoying.
Tips for Success
- Let your kiddos help make these white chocolate buckeyes. They can help mix the peanut butter, melt the chocolate or even drizzle the stripes to make them look like mummies. My kids love helping!
- Make sure to allow the peanut butter time to harden up in the fridge before dipping it in the chocolate.
- You will want to press the candy eyes into the peanut butter so that they stick and won’t fall off.
- Use a Ziplock bag with melted chocolate to drizzle over the buckeyes to make the mummies’ stripes.

These mummies were incredibly cute and simple to make. I just sent them off to a classroom Halloween party so I won’t know how well they were received by 3rd graders until later. White candy melts from a certain bullseye retailer made the perfect coating to dip the balls in. A few observations – I think a very small piping tip in the piping bag would give better control and a slower dispensing of coating to make the “strips”. Also, if you are more of a peanut butter buckeye person you may want to increase the peanut butter and slightly decrease the powdered sugar – these are more on the powder sugar side. 5 stars for the buckeye mummies! Will definitely make them again for future Halloween celebrations!
