How to Make Chocolate Covered Oreos
Be sure to see the recipe card below for full ingredients & instructions!
- Prepare a large baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- Melt the chocolate melting wafers in the microwave according to the instructions below (in the recipe card).
- Dip 1/3 of the Oreos in the white chocolate and place on the prepared baking pan. Repeat with milk chocolate and dark chocolate.
- Before the chocolate hardens, drizzle some chocolate on top and add sprinkles if desired.
- Let the chocolate harden fully, then serve. Enjoy your chocolate covered Oreos!

I recommend using chocolate melting wafers, but you can also use chocolate chips! I do not recommend using chocolate bars, as you will need to temper the chocolate before using it; otherwise, the chocolate will not set hard.
To get these Oreos smooth, make sure to tap the dipped Oreos on the side or rim of the bowl to shake off any excess chocolate. Too much chocolate can cause the Oreos to come out lumpy.
Nope! As long as they are stored in an airtight container, these Oreos do not need to be refrigerated. If your house is particularly warm, you may wish to store them in the refrigerator to keep them from melting.
Chocolate covered Oreos can be kept in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

How To Make Oreo Pops
To turn these chocolate covered Oreos into Oreo pops, carefully insert a lollipop stick into the white cream in the middle of the cookie (double stuf Oreos provide more filling to make it easier).
Once you’ve secured the lollipop stick, hold it as you dip your Oreo into the chocolate. Be sure to hold it over the bowl of chocolate to allow any access chocolate to drip off. Then, place it on a parchment paper-lined pan or tray and top with sprinkles or drizzle with more chocolate before the chocolate dries.

Tips for the Best Chocolate Covered Oreos
- Use high-quality candy melts or chocolate chips. I recommend Ghirardelli!
- Stir the chocolate frequently while heating to prevent it from burning!
- Do not stab the fork tines into the cream filling of the Oreos when dipping; this could cause the cookie to crumble apart.
- Shake off excess chocolate to keep the Oreos from becoming lumpy.
- For easier dipping, use your hand to dip just half of each cookie in chocolate!
- Feel free to decorate your dipped Oreos with chopped nuts, toasted coconut, crushed pretzels, flaky salt, melted peanut butter, or caramel sauce!

We hope you enjoyed making (and eating) these chocolate covered Oreo treats! This classic cookie with a twist will be perfect for any special occasion. There are so many ways to decorate them and make them your own!
