How to Make Brioche French Toast
Be sure to see the recipe card below for full ingredients & instructions!
- Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Heat a pan with butter.
- Dip each side of the bread into the egg mixture.
- Place it in the hot buttered skillet.
- Cook the toast for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Repeat with the remaining slices of bread.
- Serve with your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
If your slice of French toast has been in the pan for over 2 minutes and it’s still not browning, your pan probably isn’t hot enough. The pan should be hot enough that the butter has fully melted and you can feel the heat by hovering your hand a few inches above the pan. And of course, there should be a delicious sizzle when the bread is placed on the hot pan!
Not necessarily… but it is the best. Brioche is a French bread that has a buttery, delicately sweet taste and fluffy, flaky texture. It soaks up the egg mixture like no other bread can! While brioche bread is soft and fluffy, it’s also thick and sturdy enough to not fall apart once doused in the egg mixture and cooked. When it comes to making the perfect French toast, nothing really compares to brioche bread.
In an airtight container in the refrigerator, homemade brioche french toast will stay fresh for up to 3 days. I recommend reheating it back into a hot buttery pan for about 1 minute or less on each side. The microwave will just make the leftover french toast soggy, and no one wants that!
Recipe Tips and Notes
- If you’re making this recipe in the fall, add a little but more cinnamon and a dash of pumpkin pie spice to the mix!
- Follow the measurements specifically when whipping up the egg mixture. Too much egg will make the french toast have an unpleasant scrambled egg smell, and too much milk will ruin the consistency and create soggy bread.
- While you certainly want the pan to be hot, it also can’t be too hot! You don’t want to burn the outside of the bread before it has a chance to cook all the way through.
Work in easy batches and treat your loved ones to this delicious brioche french toast recipe!
