These Rolo pretzel turtles are one of my go-to holiday treats because they’re ridiculously easy and always a crowd favorite. The mix of salty pretzels, gooey caramel, melty chocolate, and toasted pecans hits every craving at once. I make these Rolo turtles with pretzels every Christmas. They take less than 15 minutes to make, and they’re always the first thing to disappear from the snack table! These pretzel Rolo turtles are the perfect no-fuss candy for parties, gifting, or just satisfying your sweet tooth.

Rolo Turtles with Pretzels
While I love my classic turtle candies, I wanted to make them even easier. With just 3 simple ingredients–pretzels, Rolos, and pecans–this easy Rolo turtles recipe is a great quick treat to make in a pinch and the perfect way to use up all that leftover Halloween candy for the holidays.
I use pretzel twists or snaps to give these candies a sturdy base, and I bake them just long enough to soften (not melt!) the Rolos. This helps keep that chewy texture. By pressing the pecans in while warm, these pretzel and Rolo turtles get that perfect “turtle” shape.

Use Fresh, Toasted Pecans
To get picture-perfect Rolo pretzel turtles, use fresh pecans. Old nuts tend to turn bitter after baking. I always toast mine for 5 minutes at 350°F before using. It enhances the flavor and gives a richer, buttery crunch that sets these apart from store-bought versions.

Pretzel and Rolo Turtles Recipe
Equipment
- Baking Sheet
Ingredients
- 20 pretzels *
- 20 Rolo candies unwrapped**
- 20 pecan halves ***
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Spread the pretzels out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.20 pretzels
- Place an unwrapped Rolo onto each pretzel.20 Rolo candies
- Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven on the center rack and bake for 3-4 minutes, until the Rolos have softened.
- Once the bake time is up, remove the baking sheet from the oven, then gently press a pecan half down into each Rolo.20 pecan halves
- Let cool completely, then serve.
Notes
- The Rolos are ready when they look shiny and slightly slumped, not melted flat. That’s the sweet spot where the caramel is soft enough to press but not runny.
- Work fast so that the Rolos/candies don’t have a chance to set back up!
- Use the pecan to press straight down instead of twisting; it keeps the caramel centered and prevents the chocolate from cracking.
- Cool these candies at room temperature the counter, not in the fridge. Rapid cooling can cause the chocolate to bloom (turn dull or streaky).
- Sprinkle sea salt, crushed peppermint, or holiday sprinkles on top before the chocolate sets.
- For an extra flair, drizzle the finished turtles with caramel or chocolate sauce.
How to Make Rolo Pretzel Turtles Step-by-Step
Prep: Preheat your oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Spread the Pretzels: Spread 20 pretzels out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. I like a classic twist-shaped pretzel, or the window-shaped snaps since they’re nice and sturdy.

Bake the Rolos: Place an unwrapped Rolo onto each pretzel (20 total). Place the baking sheet into the preheated oven on the center rack and bake for 3-4 minutes, until the Rolos have softened. They’re ready when they look shiny and slightly slumped, not melted flat!

Press the Pecans: Once the bake time is up, remove the baking sheet from the oven, place a pecan half on top (20 total) of each Rolo, and gently press down. Work quickly so the Rolos don’t set up, and press the pecans straight down without twisting. Let cool completely at room temperature, then serve. I don’t recommend chilling these in the fridge, as it can cause the chocolate to turn streaky.

How to Store and Freeze
Store leftover pretzel Rolo turtles in an airtight container or Ziplock bag at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Enjoy at room temperature.
