These soft and chewy blondies are a weekend favorite at my house! Perfectly sweet with an incredible melt-in-your-mouth texture, my classic blondie bars always disappear quickly. Made with a handful of basic baking ingredients and rich white chocolate chips, this homemade dessert is beyond easy!

Classic Blondie Bars with White Chocolate Chips
I love chocolate-y cakey brownies, but sometimes only a blondie will hit the spot! They have the dense, chewy texture of a brownie, but with a lighter, brown sugar vanilla flavor. I appreciate the softer texture and taste of blondie bars, but I like to add white chocolate chips so I still get a hit of creamy, rich indulgence!
With just 7 basic ingredients and 10 minutes of prep, this is the kind of easy homemade dessert I can get behind. I just whisk a few ingredients together (no mixer required!), pour the batter into a pan, then let the blondies bake. The hardest part is waiting for them to cool!

Adding Baking Powder to Blondies
I adapted my butterscotch chip blondies to make a more classic version with just a couple of simple changes. The biggest difference is the addition of baking powder in this recipe, which creates a lighter, more tender texture that is more cookie than cakey. 1 teaspoon of baking powder is all it takes to give these blondies the perfect lift!

How to Make Blondies Step by Step
Prep: Gather the list of ingredients for this brown sugar blondie recipe. Preheat the oven to 350℉. Line a 9×9 pan with parchment paper and spray it with nonstick baking spray. Melt 1½ sticks of unsalted butter in the microwave. It should be fully melted and liquid.

Combine the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, ¾ cup of lightly-packed brown sugar, and ⅓ cup of granulated sugar. Then whisk in 2 large eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Fold in the Dry Ingredients: Next, fold in 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Combine gently just until no large lumps of flour remain.

Add White Chocolate: If desired, gently fold about ½ cup of white chocolate chips into the blondie batter. These will taste great without white chocolate too!

Bake the Blondies: Pour the batter into the prepared 9×9 baking dish. Bake blondies at 350℉ for 28-30 minutes. The center might still look soft and undercooked, but if a toothpick comes out clean, they’re done! The center will firm up as it cools.

Cool and Serve: Let the bars cool completely in the pan, then slice into squares and enjoy!
How to Store
Let blondies fully cool before storing. Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For slightly longer storage, they will keep in the fridge for up to 1 week, but will lose some of their light, chewy texture. If freezing, wrap slices in plastic wrap, and place in a resealable bag. Let them fully thaw and warm up before enjoying.
