A Frosty is a frozen chocolate or vanilla dessert sold at Wendy’s. It’s a cross between ice cream and a milkshake, perfect for eating with a spoon or drinking through a straw.
Use unsweetened cocoa powder for this Frosty recipe. I like using Hershey’s or Ghirardelli brands Dutch-process cocoa powder for the richer color. Natural cocoa powder will also work here.
To make the Frosty mixture thicker, add more ice cubed and blend until smooth.
Made with just 4 ingredients, you’ll be sipping on a Frosty in no time.

Recipe Tips and Notes
- Use high-quality cocoa powder for this recipe – you can taste the difference! I recommend Hershey’s or Ghirardelli brands.
- The amount of ice you use determines the consistency. For a thinner Frosty, add less ice. For a thicker Frosty, add more ice.
Can I make these Frosty’s ahead of time?
While this copycat Frosty recipe is best enjoyed freshly blended, pour the mixture into freezer-safe cups/containers and freeze for up to 2 weeks. They may need to thaw for a couple of minutes before enjoying.
Should I use a spoon or straw?
It’s up to you! I love using a spoon because the consistency is like melty ice cream, but a straw works great, too.
