My quick and easy better than sex cake recipe is sinfully delicious! I made this poke cake with boxed chocolate cake, a creamy caramel soak, fluffy whipped cream topping, and crunchy toffee bits. Trust me, they don’t call this chocolate dessert better than sex for nothing!

Better Than Sex Dessert

My better than sex dessert starts with a boxed chocolate poke cake base to make things extra easy. I love using Betty Crocker Devil’s Food cake for the most indulgent flavor, but a homemade chocolate cake can be used if you prefer.

Either way, the sweet cream and caramel soak deep into the chocolate cake to create an irresistible taste and a perfectly-moist texture. The whole thing gets topped off with thick and fluffy whipped topping and toffee bits. I love making this chocolate dessert for date night, especially on Valentine’s Day!

While the name of this indulgent chocolate dessert might make you blush, each bite of my quick and easy better than sex cake is sure to make you smile! Chocolate poke cake with caramel, whipped topping, and toffee bits.

Ingredients

• ▢ 15.25 ounces chocolate cake mix such as Betty Crocker Devil’s Food*
• ▢ 1¼ cups water
• ▢ ½ cup vegetable oil
• ▢ 3 large eggs
• ▢ 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
• ▢ 14 ounces caramel sauce plus more for garnish
• ▢ 8 ounces whipped topping thawed, such as Cool Whip**
• ▢ ½ cup chopped toffee candy ***

Instructions

• Bake the chocolate cake in a 9×13-inch pan according to the directions on the cake mix box.
  15.25 ounces chocolate cake mix, 1¼ cups water, ½ cup vegetable oil, 3 large eggs
  
• Let the cake cool for 10 minutes. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes evenly over the top of the cake. Set aside.
  
• In a medium bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce.

• Pour the caramel mixture over the warm cake, making sure to fill the holes.
  
• Cover the cake and refrigerate it for 1 hour.
• Once the cake has chilled, spread whipped topping on top.
  8 ounces whipped topping
  
• Sprinkle with chopped toffee. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce, if desired. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  ½ cup chopped toffee candy
  

Notes

*Any boxed chocolate cake mix works, so use your favorite. Or make a homemade chocolate cake!

**If you choose to use homemade whipped cream, I recommend waiting until you’re ready to serve the cake to top it with whipped cream.

***Chopped Heath bars are a wonderful option for the toffee candy topping. Chopped Butterfinger, Snickers, or peanut butter cups would also be delicious!

Tips:

• Try not to poke holes all the way through to the bottom of the cake, just make a pocket for the caramel mixture to collect.
• Be sure to let the cake chill before topping, or else the whipped cream will melt right off.
• Make this dessert ahead of time! This lush tastes even better the longer it chills – be sure to keep it covered in the refrigerator so it stays fresh.

Storage: Store better than sex cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for 1 month.
